New Year

Happy 2025!!!!  2024 was a year of consistency.  Not many new residents.  We did receive Magnum back he was one of the 54 Arabians from the Okeechobee herd we handled.  We were truly blessed as one of our former adopters from this herd Leslie and Tammy were waiting for another return from this herd.  They adopted 2 well actually 3 from this herd a mare and her foal and another gelding.  Per their wording we love the HDC horses they are smart and easy to work with.  They made the decision to adopt Magnum, and he went to start his new life with them.  Once he arrived, they were instantly in love.  We continue with our permanent residents.  I am hoping to dedicate a page to just our permanent babies.  I have someone that has volunteered to help with the website which will take some pressure off me as you see it doesn't get updated much.  We did say goodbye to Babe one of the Arabians that was being fostered by Elizabeth.  She started losing weight and just had no life left in her eyes.  She told us it was time to let her go be with Dr. Teston her previous foster mom in heaven.  I know she had a heck of a reunion with Dr. Teston and with Rosie her sister.  I have no doubt they were both waiting at the gates for her.  We are blessed that Destiny her buddy prior to letting Babe go had buddied up with one Elizabeth's horses.  We also knew that was a sign it was time as Destiny and Babe never left each other's side.  It was like Babe was waiting for her to be ok before she left her.   We made it through Hurricane Milton with minimal damage extremely blessed for sure.  Some flooding as always but that was the least of our worries.  I will say it was a bit nerve racking riding out a CAT 2 hurricane with 13 dogs and 3 cats in the house by myself, but we got through it. I have never been so happy then when the sound of the wind stopped.  I pray each of you have an amazing 2025 will update more as soon as possible.

Fundraiser:  We are hosting Feb. 1st a fundraiser for the rescue at Painting with a Twist in Lakeland.  Not only we will do the painting but prior to starting to paint there will also be the opportunity to make a candle.  I will post a link as soon as it is finalized to sign up.
